Years 7 and 8
Students in Year 7 and 8 complete an Arts/Technology rotation in addition to their core subjects.
All students will rotate through 8 units over the 2 years to ensure they are exposed to all elements of the Australian Curriculum.
Each unit will run for a period of one (1) term. Subjects include (but may not be in this order):
- Design Workshop
- Drama
- Food Technology
- Music
- Digital Technology
- Dance
- Textiles
- Visual Art
- Media
Students will be allocated their rotation by the school.
Years 9 and 10
In Years 9 and 10 students may elect to study one or more subjects from the Arts and Technologies subjects. For more information please see our: Elective Handbook

Entertainment Night & Visual Arts Showcase
Entertainment Night and the Visual Arts Showcase are held at the end of Semester One each year and give all Arts and Technologies students the opportunity to showcase various bodies of work they have created, rehearsed, composed, designed and choreographed. Students are involved in all aspects of organising, promoting and running the event. This provides them with real world cross-curricular learning opportunities in a variety of different professional settings. Family and friends come together to watch, listen and experience the skills students have learned and to celebrate their success.
Concert Band
The Melrose High School Concert Band is open to all students in Years 7-10 who play a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument. Throughout the year Band are provided with public and school based performance opportunities.
Enrichment Activities
Melrose High School offers extension and enrichment activities which may include Drama production showcase, Dance Festival, LimeLight Performance and Exhibition, theatre production excursions and dance workshops when available.
